What is your ultimate summer thirst quencher? For me it is lemonade, has always been and will always be. It is the best one ever.
Earlier this year, we took a short trip to Istanbul. One of the highlights of the trip was sipping refreshing mint lemonade and gazing across the breathtaking city. I am always adding mint to a jar of water to drink from for the entire day. We love it. My guests love it. Wonder why I didn’t add mint to my lemonade before. The addition of mint in lemonade is absolutely divine. It transforms the Lemonade from ordinary to something incredible. The taste is so refreshing and bright, just like a beverage should be.
Mint lemonade has a great balance of flavors – refreshing, slightly sweet, with a pleasant hint of mint. The perfect drink for the upcoming scorching hot summer days. Chilled mint lemonade is refreshing and a staple spring or summer occasions, picnics, BBQs and gatherings for me. Make sure to pack a bottle for the summer gathering, picnics and BBQs; you can thank me later 🙂
What is your non-alcoholic go to drink for the summer?
- ½ cup sugar, more if needed
- 3 cups water
- 1 cups fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoon fresh mint leaves, chopped
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
- Ice cubes
- Combine sugar and 1 cup water in a glass bowl. Stir until the sugar has fully dissolved.
- Juice lemons. Muddle together lemon juice and chopped mint leaves, using a muddler or the base of a wooden spoon to infuse the juice with mint flavor.
- Place lemon juice in pitcher with sugar syrup, and 2 cups water. Stir mixture.
- Garnish with whole mint leaves and pour over ice.

Lemon and Mint are a match made in heaven! My favourite mocktail also happens to be Virgin Mojito with the same combination. I love the yellow flowers…they make the pictures look summery and vibrant. Which also makes me crave for Summer.

We’ve been making an awful lot of fruit + veg juices around here. But if I could really have my pick – I’d say pom juice 🙂

Hello Lail! Thanks for visiting my blog space and leaving your wonderful words behind.
Ditto for the lemonade. It happens to be my favorite too. Love the pics.
And what a co-incidence there that I was on a holiday too, to Istanbul (just a few days back).

This is very refreshing, Lail. There is a Persian version called sekanjamin made into a syrup, oddly enough, with vinegar, mint, sugar. Then served in ice water with shredded cucumber. Love your fresh version. Beautiful pics.

I’ve got a bunch of mint that grows in my garden and never have I thought to use it for lemonade. Now that the days are warmer here in Rome, this is the type of drink that I like to serve…now with the touch of mint.
