“Winter is the best season for the believer. Its nights are long for him to pray in, and its days are short for him to fast in.”
– Hadith-Majma’ az-Zawa’id’ (3/203)
‘Umar bin al-Khattab(RA) said:
“Winter is the prize of the worshippers.”

So how can you as a Muslim take advantage of winter, form spiritual habits to beat the winter blues and make it the best season? Here’s how –
1. Take advantage of the shorter days and make up your missed fasts from last Ramadan.
2. Fast the sunnah days on Monday and Thursday. What perfect time can there be for fasting and earing some extra rewards than winter. And did you know that you can combine your intentions while making up the missed fasts?
3. Take advantage of the long nights in worshiping Allah swt.
4. If not already, try to start praying tahajjud even if it’s once a week.
5. Enjoy quality time indoors with your family. Plan family activities that strengthen bonds and brings you closer to Allah. Read Islamic books while cuddling under your cozy blanket. Ask the kids to help you in household activities, bake together, spend more quality time with your spouse and kids for the sake of Allah swt.
6. Count the many blessings Allah has bestowed in your life. There are countless homeless people on our streets, shivering through the long nights whilst we remain warm in our homes. There are many more around the world who is lacking warm clothes, food and home. Be grateful and thank Allah swt for giving you a home which shelters you, heating facilities which keeps you warm and clothing which protects you from cold weather. Say Alhamdulillah
