I’ve always loved this quote and have a plaque that one of my friends in college gave me as an Eid present.
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched…but are felt in the heart.
Even though I’ve spent all of my adult life outside of Bangladesh, a corner of my heart(or stomach??) craves for Bangladeshi food. Even though I don’t cook it everyday, weekends are always slatted for Bangladeshi food. Therefore, as you can guess, today’s menu will be Bangladeshi.
When I think of Bangladeshi drinks, borhani is the first one come to mind. Even though it is predominantly served at almost all weddings, it is a very nutritious drink which can be great after a long day of fasting or during the pre-dawn hours.
Since, it’s Saturday, I don’t mind spending a little extra time in the kitchen. We enjoy our time in the kitchen without having to worry about work or meetings during weekend before we take off for the planned fun activities. I will be cooking some chicken dopeyaja to enjoy with some plain rice or naan.
Some lentil with green mango a.k.a aam dal goes great with a chicken curry, so while the chicken tenders on the stove, the lentil soup will be a breeze to cook.
Finally, some pumpkin halwa after we get back home in the afternoon.
What’s cooking in your kitchen today? Anything form the Ramadan page? Do let me know.
Have a happy and fun filled Saturday.
