It’s been a month since the end of Ramadan. Did you keep up the good habits you developed after Ramadan?
There’s no denying the fact that after Ramadan things begin to change. The extra Barakah goes away. Our carefully constructed self-discipline in Ramadan begins to crumble even before we take down the special Ramadan decor that adorned our homes.
What are some good Ramadan habits that you want to continue post Ramadan?
When we asked this question to our Instagram community, the responses were quite different yet, very similar. Some wanted to continue praying on-time, keep up with morning and evening adhkar, others wanted to carry the habit of reading Quran every day, while others wanted to control their tongues.
Very different goals yet the underlying desire is to get closer to Allah swt and revived relationships with the Quran and sunnah.
Whether you are too busy, need a Imaan boost, or distracted we are sharing are some easy tips to keep up the good habits after Ramadan and continue to be close to Allah.

Pray on time.
I’m guilty of this specially for dhuhr and asr prayer as it’s the most busiest times of the day. Perfecting your prayers shows gratitude towards Allah swt. Keep striving to pray immediately after Adhaan or shortly after to bring the most barakah back in your life.
We all have different work schedule, but you can set goals – pray within the hour of adhaan, and strive to close the gap, within 30 minutes or 15 minutes and so on.
Set a fixed time to read the Quran.
Consider setting a fixed time for reciting Quran. Read and/or listen to the Qur’an as much possible. This will keep your relationship with the Qur’an alive and will help you hold onto the spiritual feeling you experienced during Ramadan.
Set realistic target. Read, listen, recite even if it is half a page. At the least, start reading the translation. Many in the Instagram community expressed they want to read a juz, or read translation and tasfeer. The goal is – to be consistent.

Continue the dhikr while cooking, doing chores, driving, and so on. Here’s the most easiest dhikr you can do anytime of the day –
- Subhan Allah (سبحان الله): Allah is perfect in an absolute sense
- Alhamdulillah (الحمد لله): All praise and thanks belong to Allah alone because He is the creator of everything
- La ilaha illa Allah;(لا إله إلا الله): There is no god but Allah
- WA Allahu Akbar (الله أكبر): Allah is greater than everything
- La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (لا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلا بِالله) : There is no might nor power except with Allah
- Subhanallah wa bihamdihi subhan allahil adheem (سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ العَظِيم) : Glory be to Allah and all praise is due to him, glory be to Allah the great
- Astaghfirullah (أَسْتَغْفِرُ ٱللَّٰهَ): I seek Allah’s forgiveness
Keep fasting.
There are many days throughout the year on which it is Sunnah to fast – Mondays and Thursdays, the three middle days of each lunar month (or ‘The Bright Days’), any six of the days of Shawwal (the month following Ramadan), the day of Arafa in Dhull Hijjah and many more. Fasting once or twice a week, preferable Mondays and Thursdays, you’ll find spiritually boost each week.
If you have accumulated a number of fasts that you need to make up due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, menstruation cycle, sickness, travel and what not, you can start to make those up as well. I used these 4 tips to make up 84 of my missed fasts.

Continue the giving.
The act of giving, whether of your finances, skills or time, is extremely rewarding not only in the Hereafter but also here on Earth. Continue your charity whenever possible.
