Our home is a reflection of who we are and what is important to us. Decorating our home and living spaces is a form of self-expression. So it is important to Decorate Your Home With Intention.
A home designed with intention is thoughtful, authentic, and evokes peacefulness. Creating a vision for your Muslim home design can make decorating an act of ibadah with the right intention. So how do you create an intentional home?

Why Decorate Your Home With Intention?
Niyyah, the Islamic concept of intention to do an act for the sake of Allah is profound. Simple permitted activities in the life of a Muslim can have a value of ibaadah, if we practice a godly Niyyah, that is, looking for the favor of our Lord.
The Prophet Muḥammad (PBUH) points to the importance of Niyyah in Islam in the following Hadith:
“Truly, the deeds are only according to the intentions, and to every man is that which he has intended. Whoever, therefore, undertakes his migration (hijra) for the sake of Allaah and His Messenger’s will, his migration is for Allaah and his Messenger; but whoever undertakes his migration for earthly life will achieve it, or because of a woman to marry her, his migration is for that for which he migrated.”
The daily food of a Muslim can be considered an ‘ibaādah’ when the Niyyah is not only a matter of nursing physical hunger, but also a reflection on Allah as the provider and being thankful to Him.
So, why not define a clear purpose when decorating your home and turn it into an ibadah?
Let’s make decorating an act of ibadah with the intention to create a calm and spiritual home that increases and instills the love of our deen in our next generation and whoever visits our home.
Let’s do it because,
Verily, Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty.
[Muslim]
And because every time we see our organized spiritual home, it would remind us to make this due and ask for an even better one in the next life –
[Quran 66.11]My Lord, build for me near you, a house in Paradise.

How to Create An Intentional Home?
When it comes to taking a more spiritual approach to home decorating, the key question to ask yourself is ‘what kind of reminders and feelings do I want to have in my home for my family and guests?’
When building or decorating a home, or giving a gift, at WithASpin, we believe in surrounding ourselves with reminders that inspire faith, which in turn bring barakah, joy and contentment in our life. We firmly belief, adding decor with a spiritual spin can create serenity in your home.
I want to bring beauty and meaning into our home and surround it with our core belief – our FAITH. I do not want to fill our home with meaningless decor which has no purpose. I intentionally chose decor pieces that evoke peace and make our home the serene, safe haven my family deserves in this dunya as we await for the perfect one in Jannah.
We may not have the perfect house with a million dollar view, but I am truly thankful for our home, the happy place for my family.
My home decor inspiration is this quranic verse –
Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.
[Quran 13.28]
There’s no better way to remind yourself of the peace than surrounding yourself with reminders from the Quran and hadith.
The intention behind my home decor is to practice of ongoing attitude of gratitude and create a calm and serene home that increases and instill the love of our deen in our next generation and whoever visits our home.
A welcoming entryway that reminds your family to say salam as they enter home. A reminder on the fireplace to silently say Alhamdulillah and be genuinely grateful when you are gathered in the living room with the family. Mirroring your belief by incorporating spaces such as the creation of a prayer room or a prayer corner. Or a reminder that is framed on the wall brings serenity in the heart.
